Living Out a Dream

Over the last few weeks I have really been asking myself, what do I really want to do with the rest of my life. So much has been about business and making money and very little has been about what I really love, so, I plan to change all that.

I love music, especially country music. No, I’m not going to try to become a singer, but I am really interested in writing country songs. I would love your help in suggesting any groups that would be good to get involved in.

Has anybody approached songwriting as an open source endeavor, could be fun. If anybody is interested in co-writing let me know, I have a few Ideas

I came across you through Pat Flynn. Don’t remember how I came across Pat Flynn, but he seems a credible guy. After reading your post, I had to write you.
First I know nothing of writing country music songs, but I know a guy who aspires to be a country music singer, although he doesn’t write or play an instrument. My dad put him in touch with a country music agent that he used to work with. This agent has represented Marty Stuart, Alan Jackson, and others. He (the agent) gave this singer some very straight forward advice about the country music business, as a favor to my dad.
If you get something written, or just want some insider advice, I’m sure I could dig up his name and email.
My dad and this agent guy wrote their own country song over lunch one day- “If I can’t be your number one, then number two on you!”

I would be interested in co-writing with you. My brother in law is a producer in Brazil. What are some of your ideas Perry?

  4. Hey Perry:

You should check out Ween’s album “12 Golden Country Greats” for inspiration. The lyrics are ridiculous, the instrumentals brilliant. They actually hired some of the best studio musicians available for the sessions.

I can see you using your life experience and sense of humor to create a truly memorable album.

    Best luck, my friend.

  5. There’s a great homegrown group called Blacktop Gypsy. Excellent and they do their own stuff. They’d be good to possibly co-write with. http://www.blacktopgypsy.com

We’ve been to a benefit for Kinky Friedman’s Utopia Ranch where they about stole the show…

    Good luck!

I’m still confused about what happened with you, but I wish you all the best in your new career! I write most instrumental songs and I’m up to a modest $800+/month teaching guitar online (online courses and related affiliate products). My dream is to get it to at least $2-3K/month at a minimum so I can continue to live my passion.

Music is the best thing – after 28 years of playing/teaching I’m still finding new things to learn and new angles with which to approach the guitar.

I am a singer/songwriter always looking for good songs. I am generally a folk rock type singer but have always wanted to delve into country a little. Email me to further this conversation.
